The 'E' in Crises

With the world experiencing financial turmoil of epic proportions and a whole landslide of other minor disasters scattered across the globe, its easy for one to be inclined to adopt a negative mindset towards things. Despite spending most of my time in an enclosed area, seemingly safe and sound from the ugliness of the world beyond these glass doors, all I hear is pessimism and negativity permeating the airwaves. Does it really help to groan about times being bad when that's all anyone's ever complained about since the beginning of time? It's rarely the case you hear people celebrating the good times and relishing in the beauty of a stable economy.

So while you plebeians are out there lamenting the dire states of your bank accounts, I can sit here and plot how to take over the world. First and foremost, I need to help Mo find a job. The sub-prime crisis has certainly fucked things up for those looking to secure themselves a cushy bank job what with all the big banks crumbling and little banks suffering the magnitude of the repercussions. Perhaps now would be an opportune moment to pursue her dream of starting a magazine (she was devastated when JANE mag ceased publications), open a pet shop with her mom or the myriad of other biz ideas she toyed with over the holidays when I was too busy to entertain her.

With the markets biting the dust and hordes of people getting retrenched, its the perfect moment for one to stray from the conventional route of diving head first into one of those jobs that promise you a puny cubicle and mediocre pay. For those who only ever pretended to be in pursuit of a job like that, now's your chance to tell your folks you can't get a job! You're being forced into entrepreneurship just to stay afloat! I personally feel that as long as you've got a brain and the willingness/discipline to work hard regardless of what you're doing, you'll never go hungry. And feeding yourself is all that matters, right? (To some people at least)

In times like these, only the weak-minded succumb to depression because it's all so easy to put your hands up in surrender.

I say we should all stay positive ... Exchange rates plunging? Time to go on a holiday! I'm targeting Sydney in December.

Think Pink!
